Adopt-a-Cell

Although teams are allowed to have a fully-charged battery pack to start the race, race regulations prohibit powering the car or charging its battery using any energy source except for the sun. Therefore, the solar array is one of many important factors that determine the team's success.

The solar cells we hope to use for our car in 2008 are the SunPower A-300. As it stands now, they are the best cells allowable for the stock class. Each cell contributes 3.1 W of power, therefore contributing up to 1.5 KW of power to our car during the race.

How fast the car goes is up to you! Please consider joining the many who have supported our efforts by adopting a cell. Contributing is easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Print out this form: Adopt-a-Cell.pdf
  2. Complete the form. We accept payment by checks payable to "University of Texas Solar Vehicles Team"
  3. Mail it to:
