Giving back to the community is crucial to the UTSVT's mission and goals. With this in mind, the outreach team works  to stimulate and increase the public’s interest in engineering and solar energy.  The outreach team hosts many events at public schools, museums, community centers, etc around Texas with a focus on introducing young children and students to engineering. In the previous years, we took the solar car to Hay Branch Elementary School in Killeen for the school's career fair. In October and November we took part in many events, including UT's Family Weekend, a Samsung high school event, and Engineering Day at James Madison High School in San Antonio. Additionally, we participate in UT's Edison Lecture Series, Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, and Explore UT every spring. During the events, attendees learn about solar energy through presentations about solar power and hands on experiments such as building toy solar cars or basic solar-powered LED circuits. Additionally, our current solar car, TexSun, will be at some of the events for demonstration purposes. Our goal is to help educate the attendees about engineering and solar energy. If you are interested in having the UTSVT attend an event, please contact us. This semester's schedule: Spring 2015:
